DESIGNERS
needed for Enso's Fall Main Stage show, "Care of Trees" by E. Hunter Spreen
ABOUT THE SHOW:
“Care of Trees” by E. Hunter Spreen is a contemporary story inspired by the Apollo/Daphne myth. The show moves fluidly through the timeline of Travis and Georgia, who meet, fall in love, and then struggle to come to terms with Georgia’s illness. It is an exploration of the mind as it grapples with grief.
If interested, please email a resume and cover letter to [email protected]. All designer positions are available as an independent contractor and offer a $300 stipend.
Enso is a small theater & wellness nonprofit that is still growing. We strive to provide the best work environment for our artists as possible. We understand that our current level of compensation will not work for every artist - if that’s you, no problem! We hope you’ll keep our eye on us as we continue to grow.
If the given circumstances of this position work for you, and this show fires up your creativity, we hope to hear from you!

Set Designer - “Care of Trees”
Contract Job - FILLED Enso Theatre is looking for a set designer for our next show, “Care of Trees” by E. Hunter Spreen. JOB EXPECTATIONS The set for Care of Trees is a huge part of the show — it takes place on an enormous, “life sized” tree. We are looking for someone to creatively make this happen within the scope of our budget, and taking into consideration that we will not be able to put together our set until a week before tech. Expertly organize the building and implementation process. You will need to identify how and where you will build the set elements (we do not have a shop), when and how much personnel assistance you will need (you will have budget to hire extra hands), at each stage of the process. This will include Preliminary Building (outside the space), Load-In Building (at the performance space), and Tech Week Final Touches. Your set should be fully operational, functional and safe for the actors to use by Tuesday November 6th, 5pm. You will have all of Monday the 5th, in the performance space, to put up the set, and most of Tuesday before 5p. Build the set as a Kit to be assembled on load in day (Nov 5) Discuss with the technical director how many building assistants you will need, and when, and work together to assemble this team, within budget Keep track of all spending, receipts and your budget. Document everything in the Designer Spreadsheet. You will have a separate truck rental budget for renting a UHaul to carry supplies as needed. Schedule this, and ask for help ahead of time.
